Rip Lemmy Kilminster

wow.  very sad to hear this news.

I actually thought that he WOULD live forever...

Said from aggressive cancer dianosed on the 26th.  My guess is liver.  Big loss.

The man was a legend. Always sad to lose those.

The first band I ever saw live was Motorhead at Manchester Apollo Theatre, Oc tober 1980. Lemmy, Phil and Eddie lineup, Ace of Spades was still in the charts and they were at the peak of their power. Towards the end of the gig it was so loud I couldn't tell what song the band were playing. It was a wall of throbbing noise with the occasional ear-splitting shriek of lead guitar over the top.

And it was magnificent.

I had the same experience when I saw them live. I can't say I liked it but still, Lemmy and Motorhead are epic. The first records (as a trio) are all great, they took good old fashioned R'N'R and kicked it in the butt! He was also a great lyricist, his lyrics are worth reading. You won't find poems, there are simple but meaningful.

Lemmy is the perfect example of a man who lived his life his way and for this I respect him.

Another memory of my first Motorhead gig - the walls of the venue actually running with the condensed sweat of the crowd as I made my way to the exit. Now that's rock and roll.

Fourth day, five day marathon
We're moving like a parallelogram
Don't move, the morning's not a pretty sight

Sheer bloody poetry.

R.I.P Lemmy. One of the greatest in rock'n'roll. Of all time.

I have seen them live a few times during the years. The last gig I visited was actually just three weeks ago in Stockholm. Very memorable. The atmosphere were special... It was like... Motörhead should never announce a "farewell tour", yet everybody in the audience knew where we were heading. A bit emotional, really. Today it feels just surrealistic.

I'm listening to Iron Fist, my favourite Motörhead album. Tonight i'll have a few beers and crank the volume even higher.

Cheers

When we're all gone, the only musician left will be Keith, him and the roaches.... :dontknow:

Never was a Motorhead fan, but R.I.P. Lemmy....

When I was living off the sunset strip, on any given day you could roll into the Rainbow and find Lemmy on his fav barstool.  He was super cool to chat with.  He said he lived in a small apt a block or two away.  Crazy the people that end up putting their roots down there.  RIP

Yeah, I remember an interview done with him in his living room just a couple of years ago. It looked like he was living in a closet. At the time I thought maybe all his money had gone into developing the bionic liver that was keeping him alive. Guess not.
