RIP Jim Marshall

MarshallStacks.jpg

He was a very important man in the world of electric guitar. I shall have a drink in his honour tonight. (whilst queuing up some AC/DC)

RIP and Amen ,  his amps and cabs changed my Life for the better ..truely the sound of Rock n Roll

He had a great life, that he constructed himself, and it turned out to be far beyond his expectations. I'm a stage-4 music biography junkie, and it often strikes me how happy these guys were/are - Leo Fender, Bill Lawrence, Marshall, whoever. The dead ones died with a workbench full of stuff that "needed" tinkering with, because what else did he really want? And 88 is long enough, really; he surely knew that his age would blow him up if he didn't  keep busy, rather than the other way around.

My first Real Amp was a Marshall with a 4x12 cab. It was the sound that I'd been after for so long and I was so stoked when I could finally afford my first. Played it until it died and finally sold it to a friend who worked on amps for book money. He played it for a while after that too.

RIP Jim. And a big thank you for all you did for us.

Jimi needed an amp tech.

Yes indeed, James Marshall Hendrix needed an amp tech.  I've always loved the way Jimi's real name coincided with Jim Marshall's.  One of those freaky things where things just line up right.
