Request section

Would there be a way to set up a request section through my account on Warmoth.com where I can request to be emailed when you get a certain type of wood in stock?

For example, I have called and emailed in the past asking about white korina for a neck build.  Every time, there is none in stock and no forecast on when any is coming in.  Then every once in a while, I will see a white korina neck new in the showcase.

If there would be a way to be notified by a generic email that a certain wood is in stock and I have X days to call Warmoth, that would be great.

Thanks

Great idea, and I can appreciate how useful it would be.  However it seems like it would be an administrative nightmare to implement and would have the potential for hurt feelings if someone was not notified properly and then later saw that option for sale on a showcase item.  Not to mention that it would involve an investment of administrative resources with the real potential of no return if the customer decided not to order for whatever reason.  Maybe if their inventory was fully computerized it would be feasible.

Notify everyone when something comes in, and everyone is going to snatch it all up before you get a chance.
Then again, maybe that's great for business.

I'm not sure it would be as good to know what wood came in as much as it would be to know what wood is available. They have to season the stuff and cut it into usable shapes before it's ready to serve.

I think thats functionally equivalent. If you're Jonesing for a WK or BK neck for that matter, currently the procedure is call every few weeks and see if they have it. And yet occasionally a spat of said necks will show up in the showcase, only they're all in the most popular profile/nut width/radius/construction.

Being able to put your name on a list for whenever they do get a batch of ebony  suitable for necks in would be nice.

Surely it would be less administrative to have a twitter feed or similar that noted new batches of woods available...potential uses/applications and availability, as opposed to having people call on a weekly/fortnightly basis to ask the same question repeatedly which just absorbs office staff.

Reminds me of the gelato place we used to have in Fullerton.  They had a system for this sort of thing.  If you wanted a certain flavor (because they had hundreds of flavors, and you never knew what they were going to make), you just turned to the page in their big binder of flavors for that flavor and wrote your email address.  They sent out one email every morning to everyone listed on the page for whatever the new flavor was that day letting them know that they had it.  I signed up for pineapple mint and healthy nut!  Yum!

i think they effectively do that now by simply making sure they have useful stock of the woods they offer. There are exceptions, I'm sure. But, I think that's handled by administrative maintenance of the sales database so that you're unable to order something they don't have available or aren't willing to offer at the time. After all, it's essentially an online business, like Amazon.

So, if the selection isn't showing up, there's no need to call. The question is already answered: It's not available. They could send you an email, but why? When you've saved up enough beer cans to buy another neck, you just check periodically to see if you can have what you want. When the light turns green, you stomp on the gas. Or, if the light's still red, maybe you turn right and go down another path. No Goncalo this week, but you gotta have a neck RFN? Turn right, and do the Pau Ferro thing.

Exactly, I have checked periodically and none has been available.  Granted I have only seen 2 white korina necks in the showcase since.  I just think it benefits both Warmoth and those looking for a specific wood.  You would think it would be worth saving a piece of neck wood for a few days for a customer who wants to order one, than to just make one and stick it in the showcase hoping somebody eventually buys it.

It is difficult for sales to know *exactly* what is available and ready for use at any given time.  It is easy to walk through the shop and see thousands of board feet of lumber, but it is another thing to know which blanks are ready for use and not allocated for another project.  Yes, it would be nice to be able to proactively give customers a better idea of the custom wood available at any given time, but we don't have the administrative manpower to manage all of that right now.  The only way to find out is to call or email.

FYI, white korina is available in straight shaft and tiltback blanks.  I don't know how much, so if you want it, best to contact sales and get your order started.
