I've got a 2003 MIM pbass neck with a headstock that was sprayed with Reranch Fiesta Red. How would I go about removing it? Sanding? Acetone? Something else really cool that I've never heard of?

thanks,
Joe

Any particular reason to go with sanding vs. acetone (or anything else for that matter)?

Thank you Tonar & Mayfly, I'll be sanding it down as soon as I can find the time...any tips?  Just because I'm a curious guy, why sanding vs something else? What are the advantages of sanding? This is all new to me, so I greatly appreciate the advice.

thanks,
-Joe

You have better control with sanding as per what area gets the finish removed.  With other methods, you don't have the fine degree of control needed.

And it's also easier.

BTW, use a sanding block and start with a high number. I'd start with 400 and see where that took me.

Since it's only the face of the headstock I figured a chemical like acetone would be easier/quicker than sanding, as well as cheaper because I thought I would need to buy an orbital sander. But you recommenr a sanding block? That didn't even cross my mind, thanks again for the advice.
