Red Strat Makeover

Howdy everyone!
I have recently completed a Strat Makeover as a gift for my wife on Christmas. It started life as a Fender, Squire series. The standard setup, white pickguard, three cheapy single coils. The neck has a bit of flame to it which surprised me, for a squire. Nothing too spectacular or drastic, but it's an example of a decent platform getting a great upgrade with new hardware and electronics.

Anywhoo...I sanded the headstock logos away and just finished it in clear. I swapped the stock tuners for locking Schallers.
I got a new pickguard and tremolo cover from Warmoth, in vintage pearl. very shnazzy!
The new pickups are a BLUSA XL500 and a Roadhouse Special neck pickup. one volume control for each one and a three way switch.

Yeah, I know some folks have strong opinions on the BLUSA pickups, but I like 'em, so there  :icon_tongue: I've found them to be very consistent and use them in several guitars.
The Neck pickup is AWESOME. Troubled Treble's Roadhouse brand, the Roadhouse special. I'll make a separate thread on it, cause it's great.
The best way I can describe the sound is 'inspiring'! I was playing things i never played before and really enjoying the bigg sound and quick response. Also, I normally use a pretty high gain sound and there's no noise, just good controllable feedback.

Anyway I just wanted to share this with y'all. Since it's not a Warmoth body or neck, I felt it best to post it here.
Here ya go!

Wait... your wife plays guitar :o ? I want your wife :laughing8: .

+1 for red guitar, solid makeover!

Love it... I love making over guitars.  Gotta love the Roadhouse pickup.  TT makes great stuff.  I preferred his Tele pickups to the Lollars and Duncans I'd had in the guitar.

so what is the story on the roadhouse pickups I've been hearing about???

I did a review in the Pickups thread.
The sound is powerful, that's for sure, but still glassy and bright. They still have the strat character to them, but more refined and controlled. They 'pay attention' to what you're playing...if that makes sense. He makes a more 'vintage correct' style if you're into that. But i like a fuller sound with more 'bloom' to the notes. I think he has sound clips on his site. check 'em out.  :toothy10:
