Many thanks top everyone who contributed to my original concept thread:

http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=13188.0

I now have the body, and am in the process of sticking this together. just waiting on my neck and wiring kit.

Anyway specs are as follows:

Back of the body and neck will be just clear gloss.

Body; Mahogany VIP with Flame maple top, died red with natural binding
Neck: Warmoth mahogany with rosewood fingerboard, with TUSQ nut.
Pickups: Seymour Duncan Humbucker Zebra SH-2n Neck and Zebra SH-4 JB Bridge

Pretty much a Les Paul style body, but with a classy looking VIP body

Purdy  :icon_thumright:  I am anxious to see her complete.
However, you need to borrow a camera...

Thanks guys, I have my camera back from my friend. Sorry about the mobile phone pics.  :toothy11:

If I were you, I would never be sorry to show that baby off. But, if you give us some higher quality pictures, we will forgive you.

And since I'm lazy, the SH-2n is a jazz pup, correct? I was looking at that exact combination before I decided to buy an amp instead of another warmoth...

:laughing11: ...thanks. You are correct about the SH-2n, it is a jazz pickup. Well known for it's clarity

Nice looking VIP. Will be great to see it all assembled.  :icon_thumright:

Finally got it all assembled, wired, and the action just low enough.Loving the pickup combo too   :party07:

Nice job. I especially like that top, and the color you chose. Always been partial to red guitars for some reason.

I'm curious... what made you buy that "Vitamin Q" capacitor? Is there something in a VIP body that drives a requirement for the components to have a working voltage in excess of 1,000 volts? Most pickups only generate very small fractions of 1 volt.

Pretty sure they aren't rated to 1000 volts.  Specs printed on the cap say its a 200v .047uf PIO cap. I just find these sound a bit smoother.

Frequency response is directly related to capacitive reactance, not construction. Whether the dielectric is paper, mica, ceramic, mylar, air or unobtainium marinated in virgin hamster blood makes no difference. Anybody tells you different, they've got a hidden agenda or a misunderstanding of the physics and dynamics involved. Contrary to popular belief amongst musicians and audiophiles, .047 microfarads is, oddly enough, actually .047 microfarads, and the response of AC circuits to that reactance is a matter of physical law, not opinion or perception. Construction makes a difference in environmental tolerance as it pertains to heat, humidity, vibration, mechanical and dielectric strength. Packaging follows much the same group of considerations.

Exceptions do start to occur at very high frequencies, but we're talking high megahertz and above, where even the inductance and resistance of the lead wires on the device enter into the equation. Thing is, that's so far off of audio frequencies that we're not even in the same universe, so there's no reason to consider it. Even dogs can only hear to 45Khz, best case, while cats can hear to 64Khz, best case. Bats are the best, at 110Khz, which is still 10 times lower than 1 Mhz, which is still too low to worry bout lead length and so forth with audio filter caps.

I know the subject is endlessly debated on player and audiophile forums, but every debate I've read only cites anecdotal evidence, never anything near a scientific experiment. "I had a mylar .022 mike cap in my Les Paul, and it sounded great through my Dumble, then I put a ceramic .022 mike cap in my Strat and played it through my Marshall, and you wouldn't believe the difference! Mylar is WAY different than ceramic!" <grin>
