Hi all.

I'm considering joining the Warmoth family :D. I have all the brand name guitars that I'm interested in owning, so now I'm on the hunt for something more custom. Something that embodies "my sound" as I chase it ;D.

I'm looking into building a thinline but I'm a bit torn about materials. I want to get a airy, lighter tone to warm up my current telecaster sound (90's Tex-Mex severely modified: http://www.anxaw.net/gear/1999-fender-telecaster) but bring the rawk when I need it (thx deafeddie). I realize that there are *many* additional factors to include, but for now let's just talk body woods. Also, I have never really played around with a thinline at all. Maybe I should do that first.

I was thinking about a black korina body with a flame/quilt top, a maple neck, and a rosewood fretboard. Does anyone have hollow body guitars with similar specs? What kind of tones do you get from this kind of setup? I'd love to get some clips of a guitar with this similar profile, or recommendations on other tone woods to think about both on the neck and body front.

I will say that I don't like the tones I'm hearing from the thinlines I have found on youtube--so I don't think I want to build one to the basic fender specs.

if you're going custom, why not get a raw exotic neck? (I'm considerting Canary, supposed to be like maple). From what I gather, raw is killer.

wenge necks go good with korina bodies :icon_thumright:

jduv, unfortunately building guitars is not rocket science, so take your best guess and build that, then follow it with a few more, after about 12 guitars you should have all your tonal bases covered.
