Realistically speaking, how much should I budget for a complete warmoth build?

If you're cost concious Guitar Fetish has a licensed Floyd that at least 1 other member uses:

They've got it in black and gold finish as well.

Before ordering one of these, I strongly caution you to verify specs posted on the Warmoth Site for the OFR & Schaller Routes for compatibility.
In fact, I would recommend that you contact the sales reps at Warmoth before purchasing a piece of hardware that may not fit your Warmoth route.

DO NOT buy a "Licensed" Floyd ANYTHING unless its made by Schaller.

They're cheaper for a reason. The people that spend the money to build a custom axe then stick licensed crap in it is beyond my comprehension.

Buy why Tony? Licensed must be just as good as the real thing isnt it?

I dunno who manufacturers 'em, but Carvin sells a licensed Floyd with their brand name on it - and I tend to trust that they won't skimp on low quality fiddly bits.  Otherwise I agree with Orcrist's assessment of the licensed FLoyds - on such complex machines, there's too many ways to cheap out that ultimately impact the user negatively.

This bugs me. The absolutism and drama of the statement. So here is a corollary: 'I can't believe what some people spend on parts when a cheaper part would work just as well'. Why people would put a Callaham Tremolo bridge on a Squier project guitar is beyond me.

[me=AutoBat]looks at his licensed Fender Stratocaster neck.[/me]
Ping & Gotoh make great Floyds, I'm not sure that I've heard complaints on the Ibanez licensed "Edge" bridges either.

I do it for less than a grand. I pick a showcase body, strat or tele this time around (no more new les pauls for me: 26 is MORE than enough!), thats 250, give or take 10 bucks. I pick a raw neck. also 250. I do the finishing myself if that's needed. a 52 styel tele won't get a lot of lacquer on the body and just one coat of nitro on the neck and FB, a canary neck will get none, ofcourse. Pickups: bill lawrence. cheap, and one of the finest around, if I were to buy them, but I get them for free. so, no pickups. I get pots for free too, so all I have to buy is a can of nitro, some stain, a bridge, tuners, and the shipping costs are to be paid too. So, all in all, I'm in or less than a grand.

That doesn't really answer his question, though. You've essentially thrown out the costs of finishing and electricals, which could cost anywhere between $300 and $600 for a Strat and isn't an option for your typical assembler.
