Well I felt like I needed to show Warmoth some loving...

After quite a bit of deliberation, I saw this beauty in the showcase and decided I had to have it.

I'm a sucker for a beautiful piece of mahogany...and once I heard back that I could get it re-routed for standard humbuckers I was sold. I have wanted a L5S for a lonngggg time. This I'm pretty sure will get my first exotic neck.

I also got the bridge and tailpiece and had the studs installed...Hopefully that isn't too much a hindrance when I finish it.

Now I have to tell my other half....this isn't going to be pretty  :laughing7:

I am imagining a sweet heritage cherry red on there...I am flirting with ideas for a pickguard as well.

I think Warmoth uses African Mahogany, so you'll have to stain it to get it red. But, that'll look excellent!

I'm not the biggest fan of that body style, but a nice red should look great.

Assuming that they use the same type of mahogany for bodies as necks, here's what clear gloss looks like:

Hrm I hope I can! It is always a challenge for me to decide whether to color mahogany or not. As of right now I have never  :laughing7:

I have wanted a dark red piece for a long time, but I suppose we will see when I finally get my hands on it.

This is along the lines of the neck I want for this project (If this is still in the showcase if a few weeks when I get to work, it will be THE neck for this project, but I don't wanna jinx it :laughing7

Congrats, and I hate you!!!!

I'm dying waiting for my body to be cut and finished.  Like, seriously getting all Rain Man about it, and I have like 6-8 weeks to wait still.  I keep telling myself that I don't have pickups for it yet anyway.

I had forgotten how exciting it was to order from Warmoth. I really want to get the neck now too, but I would really get in trouble for that  :laughing7:

A proper out of the box thread will happen when I get home to see it in about a week.

Edit:

I suppose I will also include: A showcase item with some CNC work done (re-routing pickups), side jack, and pressed bridge studs.

From order to my doorstep: 1.5 weeks (10 days to be precise)
