I'm waiting for my next build to arrive which will be a basswood soloist, maple top, maple neck & a floyd.

I've decided with the Dimarzio Injector for neck & the Area 67 for the middle, but can't decide on the bridge humbucker.

I want something with a medium output that's slightly hotter than a regular PAF with a smooth warm tone & a tight bottom end.

Perhaps a Dimarzio Air Norton?

Seymour Duncan TB-12.

I had one in my ash soloist & didn't care for it.

I'm really interested as to what the Air Norton sounds like in the bridge.

Well that pickup produces the tone you described.  Keep in mind that a basswood body will not have the high-end that the ash body produces.

It's probably a bit brighter than what you had in mind, but might go well with basswood anyway, but ... have you considered a Screamin Deamon?

That's what I already suggested.  :glasses10:

That tends to happen when posting from the Blackberry where I have to read forums three words at a time. (Jk but it is a tiny window and you miss stuff.)

George Lynch Screamin' Demon = Seymour Duncan SH-12 & TB-12
(i didn't know until i looked it up on their page either)

The only other pickup I could recommend that fits your tone description would be the Dimarzio PAF Pro.
I've been "told" that the Air Norton sounds great at the bridge, but I have never heard it for myself. It's a great neck pickup for sure.

A little late to the party, but I had an Air Norton in the bridge of my lightweight swamp ash strat. LOVED IT. It was full and articulate, while not being overly bassy. I'm terrible at trying to describe pickup sounds, but that it one of my all time favorite pickups in the bridge. I'm thinking about putting an Air Norton into the bridge of my Telecaster Deluxe because I loved it so much in the strat. The Tele Deluxe is alder, but I think the pickup will show through anyway.

Anyway, nothing but good things to say about the Air Norton in the bridge. Definitely try it out.

Thanks!!! I'm sold on the Air Norton. It'll be an Injector neck, Area 67 middle & Air Norton bridge.
