I wanted to post a pic for someone here .
I go to attachments, Open my photo file, select photo it won't load.
My phone is Android which sometimes doesn't work well with certain formats. Thanks in advance for any help

I do have a phone and it even runs android, although I use my laptop for most internet stuff so I have not tried to load a photo to here from a phone. I know other phone users have run into similar things.

The attachment option only allows the following:

Allowed file types: gif, jpg, pdf, png, mp3
Restrictions: 10 per post, maximum total size 30000KB, maximum individual size 4000KB

So if your phone is using jpeg versus jpg it will not load.

A better way to post pics rather than using attachment is to have the photo posted on an image site such as Flickr, Imgur or the like and then paste it in the forum post using the provided links for BBCode or similar e.g.

Code:

Gives you this.

Thank you , I'll check and see format my phone is using and correct if that's the problem .

Also, as Strat included, double check your camera resolution. Default setting for modern smartphones is as high as possible which makes photo file sizes incredibly large.  Much larger than is really needed for viewing on the Web.

At work, we ask parents to submit images of various paperwork, and they commonly just photograph it with their phones to try to upload (since nobody has a scanner anymore). That fails because they're trying to upload 10MB images when our file size max is set to 5MBs.  There's no practical reason a paper document needs to be photographed so large that I can pick out individual fibers in the paper!

Ned thank you that explains a lot. I've had that very thing come up when I thought a file it was quite small and couldn't understand why it wouldn't send saying it was too large, now I know 👍

I remember when the software running this board was the standard web forum - those were rough days. This forum could certainly use a face lift haha!  :laughing11:

I was also taken aback when I joined last year.  It was like "is it 2004 all over again?!"  Of course, that was when phpBB v2 was still all the rage.... :D

(I remember having to convert a few communities from phpBB 2 to 3; that was rough)
