They are now selling steel body guitar kits not unlike what James Trussart is producing.  Imagine the possibilites.  Perhaps a Warmoth 24.75: neck on one of these bodies ?  Pour acid on the metal to tarnish and relic ?  Engrave murals to decorate the body ?  Grill the front as soundholes and use it for slide guitar ?  I am sure there are a lot more suggestions this board can recommend and actually try.  Pure brain candy.

Pretty kewl, I'd like to have one of the aluminum tele's or strats that were made, Stub has a tele, pretty sweet...

Hmm, not sure about this... won't they change size and go radically out of tune when the temperature changes?

I guess that if the neck is made of steel or other metal, yes... if it's wood, yes but a little less ;)

I know the China factory which makes these steel body guitars but they do not sell to individual buyers.  The best place to get them is from a stockist listed with ebay based in Hong Kong who is reliable and has a reputation to preserve.  Looking at their listing, the shipping is a bit high but you can always counterbid the guitar kit at a lower price as quoted.

Don't know if those are Fender specs, and they already may be using 24.75" scale.  If so, they have a 24 fret neck, the Warmoth 22 fret has the same amount of overhang.  Without doing the measuring, I can already tell the Warmoth neck, regardless of scale, won't work.  The necks points of attachments and lengths are different.

It is good that you have pointed out the scale length issue.  The neck in the picture looks very much like Warmoth's original 24.75" scale necks with 24 frets (which they still manufacture on request).  A measurement is necessary to confirm this.  A 22 fret Conversion neck will not work on this body.

Here is a picture from an early Warmoth literature and a guitar I built from the same era.

Wow, that's freaking awesome.  I would want to treat it with crazy chemicals and make it iridescent.

Same here, I was going with the heat method though.  Chemicals would probably be safer.  :laughing7:

Those are sweet, a nice Gretsch look a like... :headbang:

I used to hang out in James Trussart's shop in Pigalle in Paris back in my teenage days / early twenties before he moved on to the bright lights of LA and catering to the superstars.  It was one of the best stores in Paris and he custom built a lot more stuff than just the steel guitars back then.  I believe the first time I ever heard Warmoth mentioned was in there back in the mid / late 80s...  in fact he may well have used a few Warmoth necks in his time for some of his work, even on the more famours steel guitars - though my memory is a little spotty going that far back so don't quote me on that.  Maybe someone at W knows but can't say...
