Hi everyone,
New to the board and first project.
I've been reading you for quite a while before launching this project.
I tried something quite unusual, both visually and because of the painting involved.
Seems to work quite well : only one minor issue on the back of the instrument where a small patch of black is like "peeling".
Anyway I'm trying to put the finish on, which is not that easy.
I must point out that, here in France, I don't have access to professionnal sprays like those in Reranch, so it's a bit of an adventure to find something that might "do the trick".

More photos to come.

BTW, the body is one piece extra-light alder with contour heel.
I know one piece is a strange choice because of the painting, but I'm not confident at all with the quality of my finish. So if everything must fall appart, I'll still be able to rely on a beautiful wood ;)

Sorry for my english ^^

Are you a Clapton fan? kind of reminds me of the Crash stuff the fender custom shop did for him awhile back. very cool

Wow - are you kidding?  That looks great!

it is like the strats that Clapton has been playing lately...

Well, you got me !! I am indeed a Clapton fan, and my goal is to have a crash-like stratocaster.  :toothy10:

Tres bien , mon ami . . . from seattle. nice paint job !

Magnifique! I like it, and I'm always happy to meet another Clapton fan.

Well, maybe someone can help me on my french homework now :p

Nice-looking guitar, and welcome to the board!

Big +1.  I'm also another huge Clapton fan.

Your English seems just fine by the way  :icon_thumright:

Thx for your comments !!
The name Poscaster comes from the painting process.
I used "Posca" ( http://www.uniball.com/?mid=336 ) for the colors. Those are water-based pens. You can't really melt them, so no sunburst with that, only straight colors (hence the look of my guitar).
To be honest, when I said "I used posca", it's more "a good friend of mine used posca for me".
I think he cursed me several times during the process ;)
It was harder than expected to have a nice, clean color on large surfaces, but he somehow managed it well.

Now I'm into the finishing process and I have a black area turning strange on the back of the guitar.
Can't fix it, so I'm gonna let it that way. I am aware it can't be perfect, especially on a first attempt.

I hope the guitar to be fully set up by the end of the year. Kind of a self christmas present...

PS : You're welcome with the French homework ;)

WOW! water-based pens!!!! Nice to know!

Now you must take pics when it's done! What is going on the neck, hardware, pickups, etc???

your english is 99.99% on the spot ! you'd put alot of english speaking people to shame ! c'est la vie !
