Poly or Nitro

Bodies have always been polyurethane over polyester. Very tough stuff, and very attractive. Plus, they do it very reasonably. Unless they absolutely won't do a color/design you absolutely must have, it's false economy to pass on their finishes.

Necks were available at one time with lacquer, but no more. They're poly, or in many cases, raw. Most of the exotic woods don't need a finish.

Warmoth's "Nitro" finish was not traditional lacquer, it was catalyzed.  Not saying one is better than another, just there is a significant difference in look, feel and how it ages...and, most importantly, how fast you can get it in the customer's hands

Ok, thanks for the clarification. It’s just kinda confusing because when ordering a neck when you’re choosing a finish one choice on the drop down menu is satin nitro. They probably ought to change that if it’s not offered any more.

IIRC, what double A (Warmoth staff) stated recently, is that satin nitro is still the standard for necks, but you can request the new satin poly if you prefer.
