Hello, I was going for the v build until i noticed that the neck bolts to the body at the 15 fret.WOW my set neck i have access all the way.please don't think this is a stoopid question.{being i never played a bolt on neck}

When you need to play the upper frets do you keep your thumb on the neck and stretch your fingers or do you put it on the body where the pocket connects to the body.{i know that seems irrational its quite thick} But my small hands cant stretch very far,,,Just curious on how people attack this,,,,,,Thank you

no i never played a strat....Im sorry it looked like if you put your thumb on the neck at its furthest point before it connects to the body it ended at the 15 fret.......

V's got the bestest access.  Then SG's, then 335's.

Would have to have better access to the higher frets than most other body designs? There's little in the way of the hand at that point where the neck meets the body whereas other designs have upper and lower bouts, horns etc. that get in the way. :dontknow:

seriously... go play some strats and see if you can reach the high frets. It's the exact same heel spec that warmoth offers and if it doesn't work for you, then it doesn't work for you.

Yngvie, Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, Eric Clapton, Ritchie Blackmore, Robin Trower, Rory Gallagher, SRV, Jimi and most importantly, the punks at Guitar Center could reach 'em just fine.

Yes godrex is right.Im just trying to get a feel for a type of neck attachment  i never played.The best way is word of mouth.I heard their are a lot of great players on here and i needed some advice ,,,thank you

No, this is absolutely not true.

The best way is playing it.

Go play a Strat, and pretend there are no horns whatsoever - okay, you have a Warmoth V.

Get a contoured heel, and you probably won't even notice it's a bolt-on.

this is not necessarily true. There are two camps of people as far as the contoured heel option. Some say it makes no difference at all and others say that it makes all the difference in the world. Play a strat and see if you ever want to move your thumb on top of the heel or if you always keep your thumb on the neck. If you never move your thumb onto the heel, then a heel contour will make no difference. If you do find yourself moving putting your thumb behind the heel, it will be helpful to have the heel contoured.
