Hola,

My buddy is the singer in a cover band. Next month, he and his wife are moving to North Myrtle Beach, SC. I met him a week before graduating high school in June of 1987, along with the drummer that would form the first real band I was in. The 3 of us were in numerous bands in the late 80's through the 2000 or so. We've done home recordings here and there after that, but the 3 of us haven't been on stage together since 2000 or so. And the 3 of us had countless adventures partying, girls, etc. There were many days I'd be calling out sick from massive partying the night before, and very possibly that morning.

Since this was the last gig for my buddy before he moves, the drummer and I jumped in for Breakin the Law from Judas Priest. I haven't played that song since I was in a garage band in Jersey City, NJ from when I was a teenager. But.....it was great playing out live and playing with my band mates of yore.....and I realized, I miss playing in a band and miss playing live.

That moment made me realize, I want a new amp. The lead guitar player in my buddy's band uses a Marshall JVM410 Joe Satriani model. Playing his LP through that rig, was glorious sounding. I saw one of the relatively local GC's has a used JVM210 that I'll going to check out. If all good, I'll be trading my EVH 50w Gen2 6L6. I've never been totally happy with that amp. To me, it always had a nasally sounding quality that I can't dial out. That Marshall though....wowza! The Marshall, along with the EVH, is over kill for my needs, but I don't care.....I wants it!

A long winded way of saying, I had a blast playing live again. I struggle with playing covers though. I've always been in original bands, with me doing a lot of the music crafting. My most gratifying moment in music, was playing a gig at Kenny's Castaways on Bleeker St, in Greenwich Village, NYC, in the mid 90's, and watching a couple start slow dancing to one of our tunes that I wrote. They were feeling the music, and we were feeling them get into it. Hopefully, the Force will be with me, and I can put together a band to start playing again. I miss it!
