Planning Stages (Tele - Thinline)

I wish there was a "planning" forum to post this in, but I guess this is the best choice.

I'm planning to build a guitar, but I need to let my wife know my costs before I start (that's what I get for marrying an accountant). I've done my best to use the Warmoth site to figure out most things, but there are a few questions that I'll need to either call them about, or ask here. I've decided to go with the "ask here" thing first ;)

So here's what I've come up with so far:

Thinline Body rear route Swamp Ash with a figured laminate. Burst finish front and black back with routing for a standard tele bridge, bridge pickup, and neck pickup
Maple Tele Neck (warmoth pro - compound radius - standard thin back) with Ebony fretboard drilled for Gotoh tuners

I'll ask the firstt questions here, since they have to do with the body and neck:

1) Will the "Tele Bridge" routing work fine with the Gotoh Standard (Modern) Tele Bridge?
2) If I'm ordering these at the same time, can I get a matching pegboard veneer (wood and burst pattern) to match the front of the body and the neck and pegboard backs painted black?

Ok .. now the rest .. it's mainly a "am I forgetting something here?" kinda thing ... here's my list:

Gotoh Bridge
Gotoh Tuners
Barrel Retainer
6x String Ferrules
Pickups
2x 250k Pots
3-Way Switch
.001 and .047 Caps
Electrosocket w/Switchcraft Jack
Pair of Schaller Strap Locks
Switch Knob and 2x Pot Knobs
Wiring Kit and Shielding

As I said, I just want to know if I'm forgetting anything.

Thanks,
CF

Yes!

Yes! But has to be the same time, or the colors could not match 100%...

I think you're forgetting the nut... Will get it from Warmoth or from yourself or luthier?
also the neck plate and screws, that would be cool to get one custom from Dangerous R6 here of the forum... but a simple one would work as good as it, that's just customizing and visual thing...

I think I need to advertise you about a non-official rule of the board: PICS OR IT NEVER EXISTED!!! :laughing7: So, then it arrives in your home, be sure to take some pics of it!!!

Thanks for the quick answers!

I'm going with a white corian nut from Warmoth, so that's covered. So far it looks like everything will come from Warmoth except the pickups, which will be DiMarzio Area T Neck and Bridge (always been a DiMarzio fan).

I'm big on blogging things like this, so I'll probably have a billion pictures covering everything from delivery to finished, playable guitar :)

I was toying with the idea of getting an EMG TC Set instead of DiMarzios, but I can't add the option to the body to add a Battery Box Route on the Warmoth site. I tried to change all the options to see if that would become available, but none seemed to do the trick. Is that just impossible in a Thinline?

Ok .. after a long talk with my wife, I think we've decided to change woods quite a bit and go with a Mahogany body with a Koa top with a Pinstripe and matching Headstock. Mahogany neck and ...

... umm ...

I have no idea what would look good for a fretboard with that.

Here's a link to the same finish, but of course in the thinline body with an F-Hole.

Suggestions on fretboard wood?

if you go all Mahogany, you should go for an ebony (or macassar ebony) finger board, just to make sure it doesn't get too muddy.

if you are going that direction, you might also want to consider an all rosewood neck with an ebony board for a similar tone. you save some money on finish, and you will get to experience the great feel of raw wood!!!!!! :)

My original plan was for Ebony when I was planning for a colored "burst" finish over Quilted Maple, but I wasn't sure that with changing to a Koa laminate on the body and headstock if Ebony would be a complementary look.

As for the neck itself, I'm still liking the idea of going with Mahogany with a clear gloss finish for the main body and neck woods.

"but I can't add the option to the body to add a Battery Box Route on the Warmoth site...."

Call/email Warmoth, they can probably do it for an upcharge. You can get other unlisted routing options (I had a Tele done with LP controls) but you have to ask, and in some instances depending on the routing preferred are custom order only.

I think I'm going to pass on the active EMG's anyway, so this is probably a non-issue now. Probably going with DiMarzio Area-T's.

Right now my biggest headache is trying to decide on woods and hardware colors.
