I just got some new camera gear that I'm really happy with. I sold all my film camera gear (Nikons and 4x5 equipment) and replaced it with a Nikon D3200. Along with that I got an 18-55mm VR zoom and a 55-200 VR zoom, a 40mm Micro Nikkor for closeups and product shots, a Nikon SB700 flash, and a Gitzo Explorer carbon fiber/magnesium tripod. Here are the pieces I have in my kit:

Very nice. I wish I could afford a DSLR.  :sad1:
Of course, my Sony DSC-H10 and iPhone do turn out some excellent shots every now and then. I got a tripod at a garage sale recently, that I've been using lately, and it helps a bit. I can never get good macro shots with everything in focus, however.

I had actually decided earlier this evening to start a 100 day photography project on my Flickr page, after a chat with another member of this forum. Hopefully I can think of a creative way of seeing something every day, to start taking more pictures of things in an artistic way, instead of just "this is what it is" pics. :blob7:

Your watch needs a clean  :laughing11:

The one with the Fish Oil ....
WOW ...... I feel like it's sitting here right in front of me and can reach out and grab it .......

Very nice indeed  :icon_thumright:

Yeah the resolution and detail that camera can produce goes for miles. Keep in mind the shots in my post have been downsampled from 300 dpi and over 6000 x 4000 pixels to 90 dpi and 800 to 1000 pixels in the long dimension. And there is still the illusion of sharpness and detail. Part of this is a 24,2 megapixel sensor, but also these new Nikon lenses are really impressive.

Incredible quality photos!

one of these days, i hope to go DSLR.
Thanks for the great info!

I doubt that it's older than me - I'll be 62 in a few weeks. I just sold an F2AS with a bunch of lenses (same basic body and vintage as yours) along with a couple of spare FM bodies - At least for now I'm pretty much done with film. Here is a shot of the F2AS:

I have a motor drive too, but I left batteries in the batt. pack and they leaked, ruining the batt. pack. Let me know if you want a good cond. MD-3.
