Pickup update and question

Just thought I'd share my recent pickup changes / additions.

I finally picked one for my "hot rod" which is a Warmoth Soloist body, Original FR, 89 Ibanez rosewood neck with a single humbucker and single volume knob. I was looking for a Van Halen type guitar without being a VH clone. After much research I found that EVH used a rewound PAF from a 335 so I'm having Lindy Fralin do a 5% overwind PAF on Alnico II magnets. We'll see how it does... I'll post some sound clips when I'm done.

I also just rewired my RG-370. Ok, I'm still working on it because I realised I didn't have the right switch, but I did hard wire it to the output so I can hear them. I've got an Air Norton in the neck, a yjm in the middle and an Evo 2 in the bridge. Love the Air Norton, the YMG has a really cool quack to it, but the evo2... It sounds good, but I'm not sure. I'm going to wait till I've got it all wired up before I make up my mind, but just in case, anybody have any suggestions?

I only played for a minute or so, but the AN and YJM it was just like "YEAH!" and the E2... I'll update you after I get the right switch and wire it up and play it for a bit.

And I'll post some pics... Here's my epi double neck just to hold you over...  :laughing7:

Well this sucks... The SuperSwitch is NA in all the local stores so I had to order one. I need the switch so I can split the stack on the YJM in 2 & 4 to match the coil tap on the humbuckers. So I wired the coils together and hooked it up without taping the stack and the volume dropped WAY off in the middle position. Long story short it's got a dead coil right out of the box...

Still like the AN, I think I'll like the YJM and I'm still on the fence with the evo2. I'm going to put it back together tomorrow as a HxH and play it that way till they send me a new pup...

I put everything together minus the YJM and played it some and I'm starting to warm up to the evo2. It's too bright for my tastes clean, but does pretty good with distortion and a midshift on the amp. The AN clean is wonderful, but a little thick distorted for my tastes. I tried to record it with my crappy laptop but the mic compressed everything and it all sounded the same. I'm going to try a better mic next time and I'm going to lower the levels even more to keep it from clipping.

I finally got the switch! It was sent by pack mule...  :laughing7:

So I've now got the guitar wired up with all the bells and whistles I want and I've got pictures and sounds!!!

I still need to drop the HB's. They're overpowering the YJM...
