what do you use to paint your projects, a stand like this?

This is a tripod head modified to hold a modified neck plate:

this is the modified neck plate, mounted on a body (with nuts to offset it):

this is the plate, mounted on a neck:

Voila!

In the offseason, the tripod can be used to hold a guitar up in playing position, like those stands the cool 70's rock stars had. I have to bolt the modded neckplate to another one with a hole in it, mounted to a guitar.

I bet Doug could make a very fitting design for a custom neckplate in this application.. something like the W turtle with his neck stretched to double length perhaps...

You could attach a neck plate to a standard camera tripod screw-on head and be in business. You can find tripods at the Salvation Army & such for $5 - $10. I use another one for a table-height mixer/preamp arrangement when playing steel guitar.
I just had this one lying there, and a squirm in my brain.... :blob7: I actually used it for a stand-up height guitar holder first, and figured out the painting part later.

I just tie a string/rope through one of the neck holes, no one will ever see what i the overlap covers under the neck plate.

Pssh, its obviously a vintage hanger.  It has the 4 twist configuration used by Leo Fender in rare arctic white!  :laughing7:
