Way OT - but since we have paint gurus here, and Leo used automotive paint....
One of our cars is almost 10 years old, high mileage car. Deer t-boned us a few months ago, but was kind enough to constrain her damage to the front quarter panel. $75 shipped. I painted it with duplicolor, was looking good... until I got to clear coat. Clear coat is a bit too thick, and yellowed. I was hoping to just knock down the thickness of the clear coat with 600, but I'm giving up on that...
So my question is... can I spray color over clear, then follow up with a lighter clear coat? (Fender has never left garage - still in the painting stage). Given the age and role in life of this car...
I guess anything is better than crumped steel and rust, and this is better than a wrong color fender from a junk yard. But since the car is white white artic bleached white - (underneath the grime) - I was trying to make it look as nice as a rattle can job can be.
suggestions?
