Alright, I'm finally decided one what will be my first build. I had a LP in mind first but I don't have the $2,000+ for the one I wanted, so a nice rock/blues custom Strat is the way to go :)

I have a Heavy Blues II in the neck position of my Warmoth Strat. I think you're going to like it a lot. I'm wondering how it sounds in the bridge position?!?!?!

What are you doing about the wiring, taking it to a shop? You might want to go in there with everything you need so they don't grease you on parts. The pups have their own wires so you don't really need that but you should probably grab the screws for the pick guard, neck, strap locks, etc.... A wiring kit wouldn't hurt so you know high quality stuff is going in there.

Post photos when she's finished.

Yeah this build is pretty much the results of a good year of research. I've went from a high output / whammy madness Soloist to a Yngwie style Strat, then I was undecided between a Strat and a LP, but after some calculations, the LP build I wanted is WAY too expensive for now, soooooooo I came back to the Strat :).

For the wiring, there are sadly no real qualified guitar shops around, or at least that I would trust. My dad is going to do it though. Plus he has ALL the tools I could ever need to mod that guitar any way I want. About the screws, I thought they were included with the parts? Oh well, doing that right now...

EDIT: These should be all I need right?
Neck Screw, Set of 4, Chrome

Pickguard Screw, Dozen, Black

Blade Switch & Pickup Mounting Screw, Dozen, Chrome

Schaller Strap Locks, Pair, Chrome

You'll only need to buy the screws for the scratch plate and neck mounting. Oddly enough, I just did a build less than a month ago, I honestly don't remember if the jack plate had screws with it. The switch, pickups, tuning keys, and strap locks will have them in the set. My bad. I wasn't clear enough on that one.

can't wait to see this when it's finished

Cool, but as you said, will look very D.G.

Haha yeah, not that I don't like Gilmour and his Strat but I'm going for that because I couldn't decide between many finishes that I like from Warmoth, so I think the black finish/pickguard is the only one I wouldn't regret over the years :P.

very similar to whats in my mind n:61- m:61- b:HB2 =)

i already have my neck with a ebony fingerboard, and my bodywood is going to be alder.

black pickguard on black and cream trem-cover? wouldnt be my preference, but that's my humble opinion =)

good luck building your strat...

Cool choice with the hardtail - but do you need a tremolo cover with that? Or are you getting it re-routed for a trem?

Gotta love black/black though! Good luck with your build!  :hello2:

Man thanks for pointing that out, actually I want a recessed Wilkinson trem, I guess I misclicked :P .

Updated the original post.

Do you guys have any advises for the electronic parts?

Hey, if you want a Paul, why not a TOM, twin Humbucker strat?

Yea I thought about it but nah... I'm gonna save the TOM / twin humbucker for a LP build later :)

I love the way a black guitar looks but I can't stand not being able to keep fingerprints, hand prints, and forearm smudges off of it.

I feel ya man, I do clean my guitars a couple times a week and wash my hands before playing though, so that helps.
