Picked up a low-ball bid MJT Jazzmaster off of eBay last week.  Just showed up.  VERY PLEASED (not surprised).  They called it a cherry sunburst.  Over a pine body.  Even got a little flame.  Trying to decide on a pickguard color.  My first thought is plain white, just so not to distract from the grain and color.  But not sure.

Ideas?

I always think of either plain white or just off-white for cherry bursts; parchement, ivory, or white pearl. Mint or cream are always too much.

I think black looks good on cherry burst:

Black looks great. But i think having a white middle ply is a detail that gives it an extra nice touch. Just like in Logrinns picture.

You'll want neutral with black or white or harmonize with off white.  Contrast wouldn't look right nor would red that would be too much harmony.
