One piece neck question

I'm looking at picking up a one piece neck, and read somewhere that the one piece necks are thinner than the ones with fingerboards. Something about the ones with fingerboards being 1/4 inch thicker, and the one piece ones being 1/4 inch thiner. Is there any truth to this?

The total neck is the same size, but the shaft is a bit thinner, to keep the fingerboard from adding to the total thickness.

The shaft would be a bit thinner on a two-piece, not a one-piece, for the reason you stated. He's asking if one-piece necks are thinner, and they're not.
