I don't know if "New Work Bench Day" is officially recognized, but it oughtta be. For the past few years I've had a re-purposed shelving unit pulling work bench duty. It met the basic criteria, inasmuch as it was a horizontal surface, but the work surface was thin and flimsy and the whole assembly was a bit on the rinky-dink side. It was with me for a lot of projects, but I was ready to see it go. I am very stoked about the new bench and I get a little misty just thinking about all the fun stuff we'll be doing together  :toothy10: Can't see the badge due to the camera angle, but it's a Craftsman and it's hellaciously stout. The red matches my toolbox, and the trashcan and fire extinguisher for that matter!

A fine question! I was actually just this moment standing there looking at it and asking myself, "I wonder if I can get side drawers for it?"

Awesome!
I would like one myself, but I would have to get a room to put round it first ...  :(

Very nice bench, and so NEAT! (I have 16' of bench space in my shop, unfortunately, it's covered in half done projects and other detritus....)

Looks pretty damn nice, Verne! And I humbly add my vote for the drawers Cagey pointed out.

Will that red JM be the first guitar you'll build on it?

I wish I was that organised and tidy, my workbench is utter chaos.

I do have a workshop assistant to blame though. It's all Momo's fault.

Back 100 years ago when I was married, we kept cats. A couple Siamese. Crafty little devils, who were surprisingly aware of what was important and what was not. Lotta fun in a lotta ways and I really loved them. But, these days? No. I'm not as patient as I once was, so I'm certainly not willing to train/punish them for doing what comes natural when I invited them in knowing full well what they're capable of and what they enjoy. That's just cruel.

Thanks! Granted that picture was about 10 seconds after I got it built, so there hadn't been much time for stuff to accumulate, but the work bench is pretty much the one spot in the house that I can claim near complete control over so I do try to keep it up, haha!

I like Cagey's drawers too. Wait, that came out wrong... I too like the drawers that Cagey posted. Will have to investigate that a bit. I've got a few small things to keep me busy in the meantime but, yes, I expect the JM will be the inaugural Big Project.

:hello2:

Looking forward to the pics of that build!

Wayne at Tone-Guard (yes, I actually got an e-mail from him!) said he anticipates that the pickguard should be ready to ship around the end of this week, and I'm figuring probably another two weeks or so on the neck.  :headbang:
