The Black Eyed Peas are proof that you can stay on top without talent.

And 5 years after they call it quits, you'll never hear any of their songs on the radio again.

depends which radio station you listen to. I haven't heard any Madonna on the radio since the mid 90s! I am sure there's a radio station that still plays Milli Vanilli!

So I guess you guys 'n' gals have never heard Fergie sing with Slash. Check it out, pretty good stuff. Probably never seen the Beautiful Dangerous video either because if you did we would all agree she has a talent.  :headbang1:

Having Fergie involved doesn't even come close to making up for BEP producing a song in which the lyrics "my lovely lady lumps" are uttered (and they don't even give credit to the 9 year old boy who wrote it), or repeating "tonight's gonna be a good night" 87 times and calling it a song.  They don't even try to make music, it's like they put a formula for a pop song into a computer and sing whatever drivel it spits out.

....and get PAID, son!

Although I agree with you, Hannaugh, it's hardly the first time that criticism has been leveled against a pop act.  See, e.g., the Beatles.  Which I know is hardly a fair comparison, but seriously, "She Loves You" ain't exactly the most intellectually stimulating tune ever broadcast.

I know it's pop music, and it doesn't have to be intellectually stimulating, but honestly, BEP is a new low even by pop standards.  You know, put a little more effort into it than "Okay, we have one line, let's just repeat it for 5 mins and call it good" and make sure it doesn't sound like someone with an IQ of 12 (or a random sentence-generating computer) wrote it.  Any idiot can sing a bunch of random words, I just don't think they should make money doing it.

To strengthen hannaugh's point...

Please refer to the lyrics of these two idiots:

I couldn't even post the video b/c I get so angry hearing the song and thinking about how much hype, radio play, buzz, whatever these morons are getting from it.  Even if no money, they're getting musical publicity from it.  But I guarantee there is money coming off it....

Lol, wow that is freaking horrible.  Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.

Does anyone remember Mad TV's "You Are The Love of My Life"?  We're literally at that point.

While any idiot can write the lyrics and any idiot can sing the lyrics not just anyone can sell it.  That is where the BEP's be reppin it. Sorry, that is where the showmanship comes in. Besides it takes a whole bunch of idiots to buy it, infuse it into advertising and make it so the shit is unavoidable. The fact that we know it so well and are bitching about it here where it is completely irrelevant shows they know what they are doing and are succeeding.

You can be successful and suck at what you do.  It happens all the time.  Think of some presidents we've had.

Before one spins off into the woods of Montana and starts mailing letter bombs, it behooves one to remember - 50% of the people in the so-called "civilized" world have an IQ of 100 or less. And they need their entertainment, and they're going to get it. Pop music is usually awful - we have reconstructed musical history to emphasize the importance of Hendrix & the San Francisco bands and this and that, but the 1910 Fruitgum Company and the Grass Roots were on all the AM radios back then. But by the 70's, we'd evolved to... the Captain & Tennille's "Muskrat Love." Duane who? Duane the bathtub, I'm dwounding....
