not sure what is happening

i changed the strings on my strat and suddenly the middle and the bridge pickups have become muffled. the shapness/highs is gone.

the neck pickup is good - sharp and clear.

any idea what is happening?

sounds strange. The first thing I'd do is check the pickup height to see if they got knocked out of place. The only other electronic mishap I could see is if somehow in changing strings you messed with a grounded bridge but that would effect all the pickups. Good Luck...

I was just going to ask that.  Not to be mean or anything, but sometimes we all make really dumb mistakes.

EDIT: wait a sec... its a strat,, there is no tone knob for the bridge pup.

Give the man a seegar! Pull the pickguard (assuming the Strat is top-routed) something came loose/solder joint broke, could be just coincidental to changing strings...

That depends if he wired it vintage or modern.

i am so ashamed to admit this - yes the tone knob was at 0!

my tech wired it so that even the bridge pup has tone control.

sorry guys for the false alarm! it is like i put new strings on the strat and the minute something seemed wrong i immediately related it to the changing of strings! stupid!

Haha man I hate having to admit things like this, you always feel like just putting the guitar down and walking away when you do something like that :laughing7:

Well, you could have phrased it better.

"I checked all of the pots and caps, and it ends up the bridge tone knob wasn't working as I expected it to. I adjusted a few things, and the problem is gone now."

You, sir, have a good eye. You notice things in words. Might I be able to interest you in a higher definition monitor? You will be able to see more at a time than ever before, and all of it will be more crisp than your current monitor will ever be.
