I just got a new amp (Vox ac30cc2) with no headphone output. Is there a way to hook up headphones somehow?

Would this work:      http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringer-Micromon-MA400-Headphone-Amplifier-187201-i1125386.gc

There are two external speaker outputs in the back of my amp which when conneced cancel out the internal speakers. I wonder if I hook this baby up to that and plug in some headphones that will do the trick.  Any suggestions?

I live in a college dorm and play guitar about 12 hours a day, so for the sake of my roomates ears somebody please help me!!!!

Please do not plug your headphones into the speaker output of your amp.    :sign13:
You'll likely destroy your headphones, your ears and your amp.

You might be able to do something with the effects loop send if there is one.

that head phone amp is meant to be stand alone, plus there is no point in going through the guitar amp, much of the tone comes from the speaker and a set of headphones through the amp will not give the right tone. also i believe that is a tube amp and headphones have a high impedance, i've heard of as little as 30 ohms and as much as 600 ohms. that would damage the amp, the input impedance of the headphone amp is likely to be in the 100's of kohm up 10's of megaohm range. if you are trying to use the amps distortion or reverb you can try the send of the effects loop into an eq pedal and then the headphone amp, but i don't know with that particular model if you will get sound to the speaker or not if you have a cable in the send jack.

maybe if you need to kill the output to the speaker you can make a plug for the extension cab jack that just shorts the output directly or through a 4ohm resistor. whatever you do do not leave an open circuit from the output transformer on a tube amp!  that is a quick way to catastrophic failure!

Oh okay so I would just plug my guitar into the headphone-amplifier and play. alrighty thanks

Another affordable option is the ZOOM 505II. It's a small mulit effect processor but you can hook headphones directly to it and not even use an amp. You then have all of those effects at your disposal too.

You could get one of these:
Can I run effects pedals through that?

You could put it at the end of an effects pedal chain. It does not have a loop. It does have a line-in that is useful for playing along with something or to just use it as an uncolored headphone amp.

No.  I'm sorry but that was a very stupid purchase for a dorm dweller.

Just seeing this and yes you can accomplish what you want. You will need to buy a load box with a headphone tap.
Not sure why anyone didn't mention this and just said it couldn;t be done (c'mon guys).

Here is one by Weber. $65.00

If you need an attenuator as well, you could get one and add as an option a headphone tap. Weber upcharges about $25.00 for the headphone tap on a MASS.

Not a bad idea, but we're talking with a college student here. 65 bucks is probably not something he's looking forward to shelling out. I was hesitant to mention the Zoom because it's like 50 bucks.

If he just shelled out for a Vox ac30cc2, $65 must be there  :toothy10:

hey in my defence i suggested some type of dummy load i saw no need to buy a pre-made one, i was unaware that they were available with a headphone tap, ofcoarse that would be the obvious solution had i known it was available!

No defense needed, its OK. But I can tell you, 70% of the studios I have walked into have this.
