Nice finish for a solid Alder body?

I know I probably shouldn't be looking at more Gecko bodies, but this one looks nice.  I need advice on what type of finish - not a solid finish, not clear gloss/satin, but something else with color where I can see the wood grain.

Ideas?

Imagine it has a Wenge neck with a Pau Ferro fretboard, and all chrome hardware.  Does this help?
