hi guys,

have placed my order for my next project, an S-S-H warmoth strat. some reading on the net and on warmoth tells me that with a
wilkinson trem, you need to install an LSR Roller nut and Locking tuners to keep the strings in tune? I opted for the recessed wilkinson trem and gotoh SG38 tuners with the good ol' white corian nut. do i really need LSR and all if i don't actually use the trem? you see, initially i wanted a hardtail but the showcase piece was too sweet so i bought that. however, its routed for a trem so i had no choice but to go with that. thanks in advance for your advice and patience! cheers

For the record, your SPAM signature does not work. Well, okay, it sets off my virus filters like a mammyjammer, but that's a different definition of "working".

Here's one doofus who will NEVER do business with you, or your crapilistic company.

Go AWAY!!!!

No LSR is not necessary. In my strat I used a Wilkinson, Sperzel locking tuners and a graphite nut. I don't use the tremolo also and guitar stays in tune. A good setup is the key whatever you are using.

hi kostas,

many thanks for the reply. good to hear it aint out of tune. sort of a relief to me. however, i note that you are using locking tuners and a graphite nut. hmmm. seriously hope i won't have any problems....

Why recessed if you're not going to use??
(made the same mistake when I build my first guitar, but I was 18  :laughing7:)

Don't mind Mr Rich, he got the 1 week-long sweet pills  :icon_jokercolor: :toothy12:

do let me know how it was a mistake when you were 18? i figured it from an aesthetic point of view at the relevant time. but would love to know the potential disasters i am about to find out!!! argh!

and pardon me, but i don't understand your last sentence. thks.

anybody got any pics of a recessed wilkinson ?  I havent seen one and the drawing on warmoth doesnt help.

BS.

Alright, so you don't dig the Indie-thing banner in his sig.

But to lie by insinuating his banner contains a virus (in a feeble attempt to make it seem "evil") is just damn ridiculous.

This thread is somewhat confusing, it's like a David Lynch movie, you kinda know whats going on part of the time and then there's the other bits that leave you looking like a dog thats been shown a card trick.

It's sort of part Martha Stewart, part X-Files.

I love the LSR.  no it isn't nessessary but it's a cool product.  I've had it on 2 guitars (one I still own) and is part of my next 2 projects. (including a hardtail)

It isn't for everyone but they have me sold.

Ecstasy in the last sentence...

The mistake happened because I was full of influences and trying to find my own way (what still happens in a way smaller way)...
I've trauma of FR and I don't like messing with floating bridges, preffer them fixed...

thanks guys. for those who are still confused, my original question was whether i need an LSR Roller nut and locking tuners to keep my strat in tune. currently, i opted for gotoh wilkinson trem, corian nut and gotoh sg38 tuners.

i prefer a hardtail myself but the showcase body already had a trem rout on it so i went with a wilkinson as i didn't like FR either. hope recessed isn't a problem either. hmm.

Do you mean a fixed bridge (hardtail) or non-floating trem?
I have trauma with floyd basicaly, but it kind of goes for floating Wilkinson and alikes... Could have at most non-recessed (beside sometimes I wish a Floyded guitar, when listen good musics with dive bombs...)

I think recessed is a problem, I'm fat and if I let my hand rest on the bridge while playing, it can get dive down a little in the moments that you play "agressively"... also it sucks to do those blues bends with 2 or more strings, they don't intonate correctly...
