Hi guys,

I've been sitting on some beautiful parts for a thinline tele for a few months now (life got in the way) and things are finally ready to assemble.  This is my first build and i'm a little intimidated, but it should be fun.  I'm trying to figure out if i have all the hardware i need to get through this, and i had a quick question.  Does the pots and switch mount directly to the pickguard or is there some sort of thinline control plate i need?  From warmoth's site, i only see regular telecaster control plates available.

can i get a hint please? :)

If yours is like this one .... http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/ShowcaseItem.aspx?i=t2623&Body=2&Path=Body
Then Pots & Switch attach to pickguard.

Then pots & Switch attach to the Tele Control plate.

Thinline is to the pick guard as mentioned and also a PITA. Notice as opposed to a Deluxe - no channel. Which means you have to send the pick-up leads through the body then solder to the pots and switch. Then lower the pick guard in place and attach the pick-ups, pots and switch to the pick guard. Except by this point there isn't a lot of extra lead from the pick-ups left so it's a lot of fiddling about in tight spaces. Additionally this can't be done with the neck on - so if you got excited and thought you were going to mount it first - you will need to remove at this point. Good luck
