Nice video, Aaron, thanks. If there's any difference it's not something I would think twice about. Turning an EQ knob on the amp a small amount would have a much bigger impact on the sound.
The painted body sounds a little darker to me on most of the clips. But it's a subtle diffference and, as noted in the previous post, nothing that can't be dealt with with a little tweaking.
Hey Aaron, that was a great shootout. I could hear very little difference in the tone of the guitar before or after. It’s like you said, maybe there’s a little more high-end in the unfinished body than in the painted body-but it’s minimal.
Exactly what I was thinking. Darker pigments are heavier* and different colour profiles have different mass density at different thickness levels* You have to keep all the variables in mind.
Maybe, just maybe did it sound a tiny bit darker with the finished body. Maybe.
But there were probably other factors as the recordings were made 2 mts apart, like Aaron ate a big burrito before the 2nd recording, so there was more ”body” in the sound
