here is my new thinline guys.

neck is warmoth - maple/pau ferro. body is from somebody else - mahogany/maple (the figuring looks like a checked shirt!) - with a tummy cut.

pickups are sd pearly gates neck and sd jerry donahue bridge. sounds great!

Code:

btw the body is like 3.75 lbs.

guitar was a little bit neck heavy.

i initially had plastic/rubber knobs. then replaced them wiht solid heavy duty warmoth knobs and now it balances better.

and i think the chrome on the knobs goes well with the neck pickup cover and the bridge. so it worked out aesthetically as well.

btw of the three conversion  necks i have (all 1 11/16 nut width),

my strat feels slightly thick - nut width is 1 11/16 or shade wider.

the jazzmaster neck feels a bit thin - nut width is 1 10/16 or 1 5/8.

but this tele neck feels perfect. its actual nut width is between 1 10/16 and 1 11/16 - wonder if warmoth will take an order for such a spec (for future orders)!

Nice one! Glad it finally came together after the dissertation-level research you put into it. Congrats.  :icon_thumright:

>how did you end up finishing it?

i got a local guy here in india to do the clear gloss.

at long last the thinline!

it looks great and I'm glad that it came together for you.  :hello2:  :occasion14:

i was initially worried that the humbucker at the neck would look odd on a standard thinline pickguard - but it looks ok.

>the pole pieces need to be towards the neck

yeesh is that right? no, it was not intentional.

any idea what the logic behind it is?

In revisonist history (don't know if it's true or not), Seth Lover is credited with it.  He said he did it that way solely for aesthetics.  The bridge hum has them closer to the bridge, the neck hum closest to the neck.  On a 3-pickup LP, the middle pickup has them facing the neck.

I have mine reversed on purpose.. same with my LP.. I wouldn't have it any other way  :icon_thumright:
