so John Sykes is out and Vivian Campbell is in..
The new singer is Ricky Warwick.. I've seen him with the Almighty waaaay back (early nineties?) and I don't think they really impressed me..

anyway, I am a big Lizzy fan and really enjoyed the John Sykes version... not so sure about this line up though.

Hopefully Viv will get that fire he had back in his DIO days... instead of lounge-lizarding with Def Lep.

I have no informed comment to make about the music, but good lord that is one atrocious band photo.

What?  Where's Phil?  Oh yeah, he passed away in the '80s.  This band should really rename themselves.  I'm sure they're all fine players, but this has to be a grab for some cash.

I agree. I understand if the original members want to have fun, play old songs or record new songs. But they are not Thin Lizzy, they will never be. Phil Lynott was not just a member of Thin Lizzy, he started the band and the band ended with his death. Would you consider Motorhead without Lemmy :sad1: :-\ :help:

They are really a tribute band... but a really good one!
I have seen them a couple of times with John Sykes in Dublin, and they put on a really good show.

+1.

On the other hand, I've been to a concert of Hot Chocolate last year and while the original singer left the band somewhere in the nineties, they were awesome.
Funny thing is that I actually thought I was going to see a tribute band, only to find out halfway that three or four members were from the original line-up. My and my girl had a great night and I suppose that's what matters.

I saw the Sykes-fronted Lizzy in the late 90s/early 00s and was really amazed (and intimidated) by the band. Sykes, Scott Gorham, Tommy Aldridge, and Mark Mendoza. They'd hit a stop and the air would just get sucked out of the room. One of the tightest bands I've ever heard. And LOUD, but clear.

Actually, Lynott didn't start the band:  it was Eric Bell (guitar) and Eric Wrixon (keys)... they then saw Lynott (bass/vocals) and Brian Downey (drums) with Orphanage and merged from there.

I'd like to respectfully disagree.
There is NO Lizzy any more..... Phil's gone.

I too have seen the Sykes fronted band and they were a good band but Sykes' playing totally missed the point.. he's all flash and no taste... christ the guy even did a Tapping solo in the middle of Don't believe a word

The greatest Lizzy ever was Robertson and Gorham at the Live era... totally melodic.

Viv Campbell is a total sell out.. he was my hero as a kid but he totally sold out to play for Leppard.
I had the misfortune to meet him 10 years ago and he was a total ego maniac, wasn't even content to tune his own guitar :binkybaby:

This new venture is abusing Lynott's memory and they should be ashamed to use the name.

I'm most confused as to why there's 6 of them.

the bassist and singer is no longer the same person
(or the guitarist/singer in John Sykes' case)

I know how you feel..
on one hand, there is absolutely No one like Phil! he is so unique as a signer and writer. I also think that TL has inspired so much more bands than they get credit for.

on the other hand, I like the idea that he is still being honored by a tribute and that people still get to hear his music live. and as Whitebison said, they play extremely well!

anyway, TL (the original) has always been one of my favorite bands. its one of those "how can you not like them" bands. oh and kissing Phil's mum is one of my best experiences in the last 10 years! ;)
