I was always interested in doing a semi-hollow project, so when this blemished stock appeared on the deals page for $225 I snapped it up. Mary Kaye wasn't my preferred choice of colours, but at that price, I took it as a challenge!

I ordered a custom Canary/Bloodwood Variax-style neck to go with it. Bloodwood just seemed like such a natural match for Canary which has it's little ribbons of red streaks (though they don't show too well with my 2.5 mexapixel camera!). Chose the fretboard from the unique choices - I liked the dark streak that rand down the middle.
As you can see, I had the guys at Warmoth adjust the T-X-T to a H-H-H. Hope the traditionalists don't find that too offensive  :icon_tongue:

Still tossing around a few ideas on how to give it the finishing touches. I'm not quite sold on the tuners, and still toying over pickguard colours

That neck is sexy! And yeah, the tuners look a bit lost there. What is the blemish on the body?

Awesome project!! Gold tuners look ok, but i have this thing for black tuners  :laughing7:

I am tempted to do a 12string semi hollow tele.

Still trying to find the blem. I believe it's do the with the edges round the F hole. I'll get a close up when the sun is out.

Any suggestions on the Tuners? I will be keeping gold - it will go with the rest of the hardware. They do seem to stick out at odd angles with that headstock though. The ones on the left/top side seem to stick out more. I'm using the Gretsch White Falcon as my inspiration for this project and am tempted by the Imperials.

+1 on that neck!  I like it... :headbang:
I almost went with the Canary/Bloodwood combo on my last project, but chickened out.  I ended up going with Canary/Malagasy Rswd.
Looks like you are on your way to a nice build.
Keep us posted with pics.
:rock-on:

Hey, this is going to be interesting for sure. I actually like those tuners but I'm not sure I like it with that head / body. Hmmm. Are they all perpendicular to each other, or do they follow the curve of the headstock? I think they need to be perpendicular.
And - what are you going to do for a pickguard? I'm almost sure that the thinline pickguard can't accommodate a middle pickup. Are you getting something custom?
Also, what pickups - what sound - why three buckers?

Canary/Bloodwood just sits so well together. If it sounds half as good as it looks, it will be a pearler.

The pickguard will have to be be custom cut. I'm thinking white pearl at the moment.
Tried to take a pic of the blenmish, but couldn't get a decent shot.

The three HBs.well that's under the hood for now :-P But there will be different types of pickups in those routes.

On the tuners, i have them mocked up to curve with the headstock.  On the rear photo, the D string tuner got bumped and slipped a lil'.
