New project! The Stratlander

I love the Musiclander body style but I wanted to incorporate a standard strat style pickguard. The musiclander is only available as a rear rout and the lower horn does not look like it would fit a standard pickguard. So i decided to do it myself. I ordered a routed body blank with a standard strat swimming pool rout. The catch? I am doing it in 7/8 size with a 24" scale and wilkinson trem. Other body mods will include a contoured heel, a arm contour ala John Petrucci Music Man with a double sculpted contour. and a electrosocket drilled in from the cut away of the musiclander.

What a great idea! I keep forgetting they do pre-routed blanks. It's a helluva head start.

Having taken a different approach to a front-routed Musiclander, I'll be interested to see what you come up with.

Did W make you a blank with the 7/8 bridge position and routing?

Yes they did, I called and spoke with Spike and he made it happen. It’s not on the builder. I am looking forward to the build. I just picked up my new band saw and hope to get started this week.

Goodness gracious! New band saw? What did you get? Inquiring minds want to know. And their sensors wanna see pics!

My shop is coming along, next week I am building a few more work benches to clutter up.

Nice! Now all you need is some wainscotting for the walls, some berber carpet, some mood lighting, a wet bar...

I just finished up a rough sketch from some prints I found online. These are in 1:1 scale 25.5", I will print out some 7/8 scale this week at work. I think it comes out a bit fat on the bottom of the lower bout, may have to add a bit to the top lower bout.
