I finally got my act together & got a pedalboard. No more cables & pedals strewn all over the place.

Nice! It's good to have things cleaned up and predictable, isn't it?

For years I had pedals on top of my amp & on the floor. Cables everywhere, having them fall of the amp & get chipped etc. A giant mess. I have no idea why I didn't do this earlier.

I just bought my first pedalboard a few days ago after twenty years of playing. Really makes you  when it's all set up.

I likey... :headbang1:

I once bought an all in one type unit but I found I got bored with it. With multi-pedals there's always something else to step on... :party07:

You can have both - a powerful processor and a lotta switches/pedals...

Not a special effect in the bunch there, but access to hundreds of them as well as a wide variety of amps and cabinets.

The modeling processor stuff is cool, millions of options. But the old skool analog stuff is still more fun to play with... :guitarplayer2:

I've done it several different ways... a few pedals, tons of pedals, multi-effects processors with a limited switches/controllers, and now this way with the Axe Fx, and this way makes me the happiest by far.

+1, that's why my pedal board is the way it is, all analog signal path with midi type control.

And this coming from a guy who still has a 20 space Mesa Triaxis/2:90 rack loaded with effects.

One thing I do miss doing it the way I do is being able to just reach down and tweak something instantly. With these fancier systems you're always playing with menus and parameters for even the simplest details.

bing, bing, bing, bing....we have a winner folks...you hit it right on the nose. The Sony processor I have has a 100 preset channels and a 100 blank with each of those 100 having 7 different effects. But no matter how many times I tweeked and tweeked and tweeked, once I got going it was still never just right. So it was back to more menus and submenus and blah, blah, blahhhhh...

You know what I hate about having pedals? Having to bend over and tweak this, tweak that, four hundred ways of plugging one into the other, have to put the EQ here but it sounds better there unless the OD is before it then it sucks but you can't put the EQ after the OD because the OD can't go before the wah which is why it was there but...

So yeah, it's the same stuff. The difference is that with a modeler I could sit in a comfy chair while I tweak things. :laughing11:

So many people are using the AxeFX2 for just effects & it sounds amazing & the control it gives you is limitless. I may have to break down & get one, but I sure do loves me some of those easy to turn knobs on pedals. Too many choices end up frustrating me in the long run. A good amp, a few pedals & that's all I need.

Don't forget the Warmoth guitars  :party07:

That goes without saying.

Working on my 12th build as we speak.  :guitarplayer2:

Cagey, going to PM you as I just upgraded from the Ultra to the II.
Curious about how you use scenes.
What you have your 4 Mission pedals controlling
What your FS-6's control

I'm not using scenes yet; like many, I've been patiently waiting on AxeEdit TNP before I start reprogramming everything, as it's going to be a game-changer and I don't want to invest a great deal of effort into something I know I'm going to toss.

The controller pedals are Wah, Volume, unused, and Pitch Bend.

The FS-6 switches are intended for the looper. Had to modify those to give them power on/off switches, as they have batteries in them and there's no power on the board to eliminate them and they're always on as long as something is plugged into them. Can't have that, and can't really unplug them, so...

Just how many expression pedal inputs does that controller have?  I used to do that with my old ADA rack, it was nice to be able to fade certain effects in/out, etc...  There's a lot you can do when you start assigning Continuous Controllers for various parameters.

Got a shot of the back of the pedal board (cennection end) and one of the rig?

There are 4 continuous controller inputs, each also with switch inputs if your CC has one (only one of mine does, and I don't use it). Then there are 4 footswitch inputs, which is what the FS-6 units are tied into. I have the midi switchboard (see the MFC-101 here) powered off the Ethernet cable, which is a full-duplex comm link for its own state as well as those of the various external controllers/switches. So, the whole board only needs one thin cable to hook it up.

The back of the 'board looks like this...

... and the whole shebang plugs into an AxeFx II, as seen here...

... although those aren't the speakers I use, they're just a convenient stand at the moment. I have a pair of Carvin FRFR PA speakers on stands that everything runs through. Those 112s you see are for sale, if anybody's interested, along with some other stuff. I should probably start a "for sale or trade" thread.
