New Jazz bass build-Setup problems-Convex neck

Hi There, I just finish build my first Warmoth bass. I've been playing for 25+ years and I'm pretty good at setting up a bass....slight truss rod adjustments, bridge and nut hight, intonation, pickup hight. I'm pretty particular about getting them dialed in "perfectly".

The assembled Warmoth had a convex bow in the neck, I could visually see it, the frets around 5th,6th,7,th, buzzed a bit. In my attempt to loosen the truss rod, I discovered it was pretty loose. It's not rattling in there or anything, it takes no effort to turn it in any direction right now. It doesn't feel like it's doing anything right now.

It has improved since the strings have been on it overnight (I tuned it up 1/2 step overnight), but it's still has a slight convex bow. (better than it was at first). I need a slight concave bow setup it up properly. Do I need to be more patient? Do you think the neck will eventually pull concave with strings on it for a while? is this normal? I've seen youtube videos where guys used clamps and stuff to straighten out a neck, I know I'm not ready for that...

Other than that, this bass has met my high expectations. I think it will be a keeper.

It's certainly worth a try but, for what it's worth, my experience with trying to stress necks into shape using string tension, clamps, etc. has shown there's only one way to do it. You may want to review this thread.

It's not particularly difficult or even dangerous, although getting a bass neck to fit in the boss's oven is going to require a lotta oven. If it's a new neck, you may opt to just send it back.
