I found an Ibanez Jet King at the local guitar center for $200. I couldn't pass it up! I was looking for a good 6 string to start learning how to play guitar on, and after playing a few others they had, this one turned out to be it. it actually plays REALLY well. it needs a slight intonation, but it sounds like it has new strings on it, and all the electronics work really well. planned mods are a Dimarzio Mo' Joe for the bridge position and a Dimarzio EJ Neck for the neck position, heavy gauge Elixr's, CTS pots, switchcraft jack, and whatever high quality 3 way switch I can find, locking tuners, straplocks, and maybe some different volume knobs.

so far, though, it sounds really good. the stock humbuckers aren't bad at all. the two rocker switches to choose between SC and HB mode are really nice, as well. anyway, here's photos!

Ibanez makes a badass guitar for the buck at the entry level.  Not always to my taste, but always solid value for the dollar.  I'd buy another AS73 if I had a few bucks left after paying my lawyer to go alligator on the ex...

there's not really going to be many visual mods...maybe the knob change. the rest are function over form driven.

and definitely. my first bass was an Ibanez GSR190 (the one in blue painters tape), and it survived a lot of crap I put it through all while holding intonation, and me rarely having to tune it...and I play hard as crap. but yea, if I get proficient enough at guitar where I want something better, I'm thinking I'm going to put together a Warmoth Firebird with some Dimarzio Injectors/Area 67 in the middle, and a Floyd Rose...haven't planned any other details about it.
