Anyone played with one of these new Fender Deluxe Strats with the USB connecter?

Here's to the product page.

That'd be awesome if you use GarageBand for demos or whatever, or even if you're using modelling plugins on your DAW. Plus, it's a nice guitar in and of itself anyway. And they found a decent use for all three knobs!

And now, let the neophobia commence:

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. I'd been thinking about trying to build one into one of my axes, and then this popped up. After doing a little more chasing, I just discovered that Squire put some of these our about a year and a half ago. Gee, I miss out on everything over here! :dontknow: :laughing7:

That actually is quite a neat idea. A built in IOS interface.  It would be nice if they sold it as an accessory for DIY use.

On the flip side and this is not a comment about this guitar, but something in general  I wonder what will happen with IOS type accessories, if and when Apple, changes the OS or moves onto something else. For consumer type accessories, it does not matter too much as you move onto the next thing, but I do wonder with instruments that are relying on the IOS to be available what may happen at a future time.

Of course this Strat apparently works with Mac and PC also so the above may be a bit of moot point as far as this product is concerned.

I also like the H & K Grandmeister, but have similar thoughts about the IOS longevity versus that of the amp.

As far as I can tell, it's just putting out a standard audio signal over USB, so you'd be able to plug it into ProTools, Cubase or whatever just as easily. It's the cable itself that integrates it into iOS.

Yes just modified my above post as it seems it also works with Mac and PC and it comes with different cables.

I was afraid to see another expensive iOS-only product, but it's reasuring to see that the audio interface is compatible with pretty much everything. I wonder how it will perform, latency-wise — there is no point in having an interface built into a guitar if it does not perform better where it counts than most standard interfaces.

On the negative side, that's a really poor choice of USB connector, especially since it's located on the side of the body, where it's easier for it to snap. The bigger type B connector would have been more sturdy.
