Need help picking wood for new build

I have a Warmoth showcase Tele neck that is maple on maple. I want to use a natural finish on the body but I'm not sure what woods would compliment the maple neck. Was thinking Walnut or Black Korina maybe Spalted Maple.

A contrast is always nice. I prefer a light or figured neck or body in contrast to an unfigured or solid-finish body. So, for a light Maple neck, maybe Walnut top on the body? A whole walnut body would look good, but be pretty heavy.

Thanks, What about a chambered Black Korina back with a Walnut top?

That would look great and not be obscenely heavy. I can imagine loving that a lot.

Or go with harmonizing ... chambered swamp ash with a lightly flamed maple neck looks nice, too.

That looks amazing. I ordered a Thin Line Chambered Black Korina back with Walnut top, rear routed and Schaller 474 black bridge this morning. I had the maple neck already from the original build concept. It's a showcase Warmoth maple on maple Wizard. This will be the family Scandinavian and German ancestry build.

Chambered black korina is awesome; and with walnut, man, that will be overthetop good.

Thanks, Now I have to explain to the wife what she bought me for a late birthday gift. She did say I was too hard to buy for and to pick out something I really wanted :evil4:

That's why, in my house, Gift Cards are KING! For me, it's Warmoth or Musicians Friend, for the wife, it's Zappos or Khols, and my sons usually want Amazon. We let everyone know, before a holiday or event, which one we are interested in. For instance, this will be a Warmoth Fathers Day! That way I can start saving for the body for my "next" build. (Already have the neck put away.....)  :glasses9:

Y'know, you can buy pre-paid Visa cards, too. Almost as good as cash. Better, in that they open the whole planet online. Even fast food joints take 'em now. Never miss a holiday or appropriate vendor again!  :laughing7:

Both of you guys are right but she likes surprises and I hate to disappoint her. She was really surprised at X-mas when the JC 20 she got me showed up from SweetWater :headbang: The things I do to make her happy

Whatever you do steer clear of Walnut and Black Korina in combination unless it is for the wife  :occasion14:

So true :icon_thumright: Showed her a picture of the order last night and her response was priceless. She loved the Warmoth custom body builder site and designed one herself. Kind of wondering what will happen this X-mas.

Forgot to mention ... Happy Birthday!
Thanks, The actual birthday was May 17th but I get to take as long as I need to find something I want. My wife is actually a very cool person... even if she makes me dig holes in the yard for flowers :headbang:
