This is my 'old' Fender strat from 2003. I have never much liked this guitar's sound or feel. Stock pups are too tinny and lack dimension, and the neck just doesn't feel nice to me. It has graphtech stringsaver saddles and string trees. And I think it is a kinda ugly guitar.
So, I want to be able to play my strat. I have decided to keep the body, without refinishing it. I like all the scrapes and chips it has earned. I want a new neck, pups/electronics, tremolo, and pickguard. The pickups will almost definitely be the Fralin/callaham hendrix/srv set.
Now-- what neck woods? I am open to anything as long as it will still sound 'stratty'. A warmer version of stratty is good too. Mainly, I need to know what woods you think will LOOK the best when combined with this kinda ugly blue? I've been thinking about goncalo on goncalo, or bubinga/bubinga. Thoughts? Make my guitar sexy!
EDIT: I know we love our exotic woods, but it is still legal to say that you think a maple neck would look the best.
