You really can't tell over the internet without great pics. Long shadows under the fretboard extension or bridge saddles that look to be cranked up fairly high are about all you can see. The difference is very slight.
I find that VERY hard to believe about the guitars. Even if the pockets were cut by hand, which they're certainly not, it would be on a pin router, not likely to happen in an even manner which would allow the neck to be attached.
I bet the reviewer either doesn't know beans from bird poo, or there were different pickguards on the different color options, and the pickguards were of diffferent thickness, causing the "illusion" of neck differences.
Too much happens along the way in production to let a whole bunch of guitars out the door with playability problems... I just cant see that happening. I can see something like screws over tightened and stripping. I can see something like pickups being mis-matched. I can see something like wrong tone cap or pot value on either tone or volume. That sort of thing an inspector might not catch - because there are so many models, knowing the details of each would be hard. He'd assume production did their job, and that he/she was only checking the quality of the work and setup. A neck problem ... that would be immediately obvious.
My fave Harmony Central reviews start something like this:
"I play jazz, rock, blues, country, a little classical, hip-hop and industrial... my biggest infleuces are Strvinsky, McLauchlin, Steph Via & Divid Gilmur. I've been playing 2 yrs..."
>People.. run the risk of picking up the guitar after work and relaxing with it. They end up playing the same stuff they play every night to relax. That isn’t >practicing. Practicing is finding new things or getting the impossible stuff you already know down better.
funny you should say this.
after work when i get home, after dinner, i pick up the guitar and play three solos over and over again :
martin barre's solo on 'a new day yesterday'. it has this cascading effect with sequential hammer ons and pull offs that needs special attention.
hendrix's solo for manic depression - after two months i still can't play it at his speed - though every now and then i discover some small thing which can be done faster.
peter green and Co's multi guitar cacophonic solo to 'oh well!'.
i think i am straining hard at getting them right and also gritting my teeth, that my lower jaw has started aching in the last week or so!
Don't know about this? I have a Robert Cray strat and I changed out the neck to a canary Warmoth and I just love it.
The neck fits perfect. No problems...
Good Luck :headbang1:
