Neck heel to neck pocket transition

Hi All:
My Warmoth neck has a small amount of space where the neck back profile ends, just short the neck pocket. I have circled this area in example photo #1. I recently played (picked up and noodled on) a friends MIM Strat that has the profile smoothly ending right at the neck pocket, as in example #2. I found this more comfortable. Is there any practical or structural advantage of example #1? I thought I'd ask you ex-spurts before I took the rasp and sandpaper to my Warmoth neck. Thanks much for any advice.

That body looks mighty thin indeed, line6man, but I believe QehQeh was referring specifically to the flare of the neck before it goes into the pocket.

I think shaving away enough lumber to make a smooth transition would do little if anything to compromise the solidity of the neck - it's a guitar, after all, not a suspension bridge.

Yes. The heel just caught my eye, since it was that thin. :blob7:

The heel shape has changed. It's smaller than the older style like pic1.
Here's current heels:

I've heard figured mahogany is somewhat rare. I bought it from the showcase.
