body arrives tomorrow. Then off to Mr Wescott the guitar tech for building. Here is the neck (a very nice piece of ebony on maple, gloss finish)

and a closer shot of the ebony:

when I get all the parts assembled it will look something like this (this mockup is with a Strat body, and mine is a 7/8 S, but it will look close):

Well, now it's tomorrow and everything has arrived. The body and remainder of the hardware got here today. Tomorrow it all goes to John Wescott the guitar tech for the build. Here are a few obligatory pictures (I think it's going to be a beauty, with the contrast of the ebony against the alpine white body and all black hardware and pick guard)

That should look good when it's done. Mrpinter, just curious do you not get the urge to at times to assemble them in addition ?

Thanks stratamania: I really don't feel any incentive to build my own guitars. I do a few things well, but finishing nuts and fretwork are not among them. I want it done perfectly, and I can afford to pay a top pro to do the work (John Wescott of North Hollywood). John has done great work for me so far and I'm happy to help keep him in business with these very modest jobs. The nice surprise factor of being handed a brand new custom guitar is to me equal to the enjoyment I know I'd get from doing it myself.

I can understand that.

I must admit that although I do derive satisfaction of having a go at stuff myself, it's equally good getting something you like already done and especially if someone has done it to your design and specs.

That looks great! I even like the headstock in this instance. I concur on the appeal of white contrasting with an ebony fretboard. Enjoy.

I also think this will look good as you have described. The white/black contrast will be quite striking.

I love this! My insect feelers are twitching for sure. That is a class act combination. You are preaching to the choir on this one as far as I go. Great choices.  :hello2:
