Nato?

Agathis is a light, cheap, and rather boring-looking wood.  I have no idea how it sounds, but Squier uses it for bodies
 
Agathis IS very light...too light in my opinion. It makes me wonder if the new american Standard strats that Fender is putting out are made out of it...they are so light and dinky feeling. I like guitars that weigh about 8 to 9 pounds or a little more if a les paul.

NATO wood = particleboard made from American walnut, English cherry, German spruce, etc...
 
Agathis is cheap plywood crap.

I don't know where you are getting the idea that Fender would be using Agathis on an american instrument. :icon_scratch: LOL!
American Standards are Alder and Ash IIRC. I don't believe Fender offers any instruments with Agathis bodies, though i may be wrong.

I have a Squier Jazz bass with an Agathis body.
