My watch is blushing. Where should I send it?

Hi Folks,

My watch, an 1980s Omega Constellation, has developed condensation under the lens.  See photo below.  I'm not really keen on local folks, and I've heard the swatch service depot in Toronto is dodgy.

Where should I send it for repair?  Mr. Pinter - any suggestions?

I blushed once. Once! Then I learned I wasn't retarded enough. So, I got some of this...

No more blushing! Works like a champ!

Seriously, though...

Many jewelry stores will replace crystals. The way to filter down to the one you want to use is to visit what appear to be better stores, show 'em a cheap watch and see if they'll do it. If they will, continue searching elsewhere. If not, then pull out the Omega and ask "how about now?" The better places won't work on pedestrian watches, but change their story when you give 'em something worthwhile to do.

Hi: chances are the watch is due for a servicing anyway; and there is a place that's local for me that I've trusted for all kinds of work for many years. I'll PM you with the info.

MrPinter's buddy didn't work out, so I got a recommendation for a local guy.  They were old school:  Old guys with eye pieces looking at watches.  They said "no problem - come back in an hour".  No claim ticket or anything.  Back in an hour and this was the result:

The Connie is clear!  Oh - price was $10  :headbang:

I'm glad you got if fixed and you couldn't have possibly done better for the price. But I'm curious... why didn't Jon at Second Time Around work out? Did he want to oversell you on a full servicing?

I was gonna ask if they just threw it under the heat lamps. But my $13 watch is also fogged up. Guess I'll see what the dashboard can do.

If you're going to do that, then take the back off first (or pull the winding pin out).  The moisture needs somewhere to go.

He would not accept payment from a Canadian credit card.  `States must be funny - even the basic credit card services offered by Canadian banks accept cards from around the world.

I just had a visitor from Germany and everybody took her cards without even raising an eyebrow. And I mean, she did some serious spending. You'd think Germany was a third world country or something, the way she was buying stuff up like it was the last chance to ever get things.
