My rite of passage (new neck)

Finally.... I ordered my first Warmoth part. Man, what a long and hard process it was to decide on all the options.
I also came to a point that I started to feel bad about the fact that I'm pretty active on this board for many months now without owning a W part. I'm truly part of the W family now.

- Wenge jazz neck with unique choice Pau Ferro fingerboard.
- 20 SS6115 frets
- No inlay, side dots only

I think the PF pattern will complement the bubinga body that I'm working on nicely.

Kind of stupid: I wanted to order Gecko neck washers with that to see if using that instead of a neckplate would work but instead of 4 I only ordered 1 washer..
But I'm not going to change the order for something as silly as that. I'll see if I can get similar washers locally or I'll use a neckplate afterall. It was just a wild idea.

Don't feel bad... I haven't bought anything from W either and I'm one of those who still remember the first UW board!

That's a nice piece of Pau Ferro.

I did the same thing with the washers on one order - I ordered 1 when I meant to order 4.  A quick phone call to Warmoth got that resolved.

So I assume you're going to put in a counter-bore on the body to hold the washers?  That's a really cool idea.  I've never liked the idea of neckplates, and the Gecko washers have worked very well for me (so far).  Please post pics of how that turns out!

(This should be an option for Warmoth bodies, IMHO.  The G4 and G5 body especially!)

I won't. I think chrome tuners will contrast the dark wenge wood nicely so I'm going to try that.

You should allow it to take up to eight weeks. Mine took 7-8 weeks.

Yes, "Waiting to Ship" refers to the fact that you're waiting for it to ship.  :sad:

Right. My current order says "waiting to ship" and I know there's at least 6 weeks left on the neck. Of course, I chanted and danced and sacrificed 3 chickens while beseeching the spirit of Luthieropus to intervene on my behalf for scheduling preference, but I won't know if that did any good unless/until the thing shows up early. It's never worked in the past, but hope springs eternal.
