Hi everyone - Thought I'd share this new guitar in case anyone is curious about these specs and wants to learn from my experience.
I found a quartersawn goncalo alves neck (24 3/4") in the showcase and ordered a mahogany 7/8ths strat body to match.
That's an ebony fretboard with stainless 6105 frets. The tuners are Gotoh 510s.
I ordered the earvana nut by accident. This is my first one. The difference is subtle, but this guitar does in fact intonate better compared with my other guitars. I play a lot of open notes and complex chords, and this guitar feels very good for that.
These are Fralin Firebird pickups. I'm usually a telecaster guy, and I'm liking these a lot. I wired them up with a single volume, tone, and 3 way switch. I used a 250k volume pot to try and tone down some of the treble these pickups can be known for.
That's a VanDyke Harms bridge with Gotoh Titanium compensated saddles. I got some Monster Bolts saddle height adjustment screws so they sit under the surface of the saddles. No sharp parts to scrape my hand on, and everything feels rock solid, the way I like it.
I've built some full size strat style guitars, but they usually feel a little big on me. I am relatively small at 5'4", and this guitar feels well sized and comfortable to me.
