My first Warmoth project

Well actually my first ground up, start with nothing build full stop. Anyway the Alder, rear routed, HH, side jack strat, with the QS maple neck & 10-16" compound radius ebony fretboard with 6105 SS frets is everything I hoped it would be. The gold EMG's are an 81 & 85, the master tone and master volume are EMG and the gold OFR is an R4 nut, and the gold locking tuners are schallers. The gold neckplate was etched by FSR shop in USA and the custom Live After Death artwork was done by a guy here in Melbourne. There are some personal messages on the headstones (my wife paid for the artwork as an anniversary present), and the H P Lovecraft inscription on the main headstone in the original artwork was added on a "scroll" around the lower edge of the body because when I planned it out I knew the bridge pup would obscure it. As that inscription then made it into the lyrics of a Metallica song (another band I like, and also fans of Maiden) I wanted it to appear somewhere on the guitar. The fake serial number on the back of the headstock and on the neckplate is a combination of mine and my wifes initials and our wedding date (13th of April, 2002 but in Aussie format 130402) and the neckplate art is the World Slavery Tour poster, the tour on which the LAD album was recorded. The "decal" on the headstock is from the same poster.

Cannot extol the virtues of Warmoth enough. Great service, great product, and great communication. Hope you agree it was worth it.

Even with the gold hardware it's quite impressive.  I hadn't seen the gold EMGs in use before this, they seem to work well with your theme.  I have the chrome 81x/85x in my VIP.

It would seem that if one were to make an Iron Maiden tribute guitar it will inherently come out looking very very nice.  I think I only know 1 Maiden song off hand, and it might not even be theirs.

Darn fine job there sir    :icon_thumright:

Nice personal touch to it too .... Great bit of art work done also  :o

:occasion14: ... from Sydney  :icon_biggrin:

Very nice...I'd have a rough time deciding whether to play it or lock it in a display case.

That's an exceptional piece! A little more bling than I'm used to, but still. It works. I don't understand why you'd give Fender credit for building it, though.

I do agree with Johnny - it needs a displays case rather than a strap, pick and cord.

That much gold hardware would distract from a beautiful finish - unless it has artwork on it as amazing as yours.  That is one beautiful ax!

WOwo, thanks for all the really positive remarks everyone. I thought it looked great but it was my concept so I was interested in other opinions (especially with the gold hardware, which I thought was a real "risk" to take).

Cagey, the Fender logo is because part of hte original concept was the "personal" serial number on the back of the headstock in the fender format, which kind of lost it's impact if it didn't have the Fender logo on the front. I went with the Fender logo in the end because of the Maiden theme and the fact that that's what they predominantly have played over the years. Some tough decisions, and I am glad people seem to agree I chose well.

Oh, and it definitely won't sit in a case - this is for playing.

HOLY $H!T THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!  That is almost too beautiful to play.  I would be afraid to ding it up.  Great work!

That thing sucks.

Who the hell would ever make a guitar dedicated to some lame...

Oh... right.  :icon_biggrin:

Love it!
